Hi, my name is Brigitte, but my friends call me ‘gitte and I invite you to do the same.
As a makeup artist, I express my deep passion for transformation, bringing out the best…or worst..depending on the character, of every look I design. My journey began in South Africa, where I fell in love with the Art of makeup. A strong commercial career was born out of that passion. After moving to Hollywood, over the span of almost 30 years, I have had the opportunity to work on many film and television projects, with the added title and responsibility of Department Head for shows such as Miracle Workers; Unsolved; Disney’s Fam Jam; Lip Sync Battle;; The Queen Latifah Show and many more…
Thriving in the fast paced, solution oriented, energy of the film and tv industry, what drives me most is the collaborative nature of the work. My Philosophy
Rooted in my approach to makeup artistry is the understanding that makeup is not about enhancing the appearances of the actors, instead, it is enhancing the look of the character in the best interests of telling the story. Every brush stroke is intentional, designed to bring characters to life and support the narrative. Collaboration with the Director; Actors and other departments ensure that the makeup design seamlessly aligns with the overall vision of the production.
With commitment to maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and precision, I understand that even the smallest detail can impact continuity and ultimately the final shot. With a flexible and accomplished team, we are adaptable and therefore always ready to solve any challenges that arise on set. Fostering a creative and respectful work environment where everyone feels supported, inspired and appreciated is the key to encouraging the team to contribute their collective brilliance..
Ultimately, my goal is to ensure that the makeup not only meets the productions needs, but also elevates the entire project making every character believable and every scene more compelling.
